There’s not much point in gathering training data if you can’t do anything useful with it. In our experience, capturing and reviewing results from web-based training has been incredibly valuable. It’s at least on par with the average LMS and in some ways, it rivals an LRS (Learning Record System).

For instance, you can quickly identify where learners are struggling. If everyone drops off at module two, that’s a clear signal something needs attention.

Another powerful metric is the Net Promoter Score (NPS), which gives you direct insight into what learners think of the training. It’s proven to be essential, ignore a low score at your peril. On the flip side, a high score is a strong endorsement of the training’s effectiveness and not a bad indicator of your job security, either! 🙂

So how can you get human readable analysis?

There are three main ways to use the output data:

  1. Use the basic dashboard for the API (see below).
  2. Use ChatGPT to make you look like a data analysist.
  3. Partner with IT and use one of your enterprise systems for reporting

Use the basic dashboard:

Our basic API comes with a custom dashboard view. You can keep up with user’s progress and see summarized information for progress reports, assessment results and any applied business logic (such as paid training or certification). This provides a real time view of courses and results.

You can just ask ChatGPT to analyze the data:

This gives you almost instant results, with minimal effort.

It can also give you a timeline:

Depending on the type of training and whether it’s “on demand” or a training event:

And summarize the data for your IT department:

If you want to engage with your IT group, you’ll need to be able to articulate what you need in terms of reporting. The good news is that output from this kind of system is basically the same as a spreadsheet.

As well as give you a learner-by-learner summary:

Getting insights is one of the most powerful aspects of using ChatGPT. You can see outliers, high achievers, odd results, and much more. It’s a really good use of ChatGPT.

Conclusion:

Learning data is an invaluable tool. It allows you to assess effectiveness, ensure compliance and many other insights. Obviously if you have and can use a LMS then you’re probably used to reports and stats from your courses and modules. The point of this blog is that there is a lower cost alternative that can also provide a rich stream of data. So that’s no reason to avoid web-based, self-service training.
